Yeah the economy is not good at all right now. Workshops & caravans could be a lot better and armor prices are off the wall, 30k for something that costs 1k in warband. Those issues will be fixed eventually but for now you just have to either deal with them or download some mods. snipars_exe. Vlandia.
Easiest way to make money in Bannerlord. Helpful Tip. Smithing. The best way to make money at the beginning of the game, the best way to do it in the middle of the game and still more profitable even if you own the whole map. 10 days in, and if you do everything correctly, none of the cities have enough gold to trade with you.

Also, one of the biggest downsides to this is when a companion caravan is lost and the companion goes to a nearby city, you don't know which ones on the clan page are caravans and which aren't. Not many villages pumping out silk or silver either, so they
Here is my mount and blade 2 bannerlord caravan data after 30 hours of testing for profit and survivability and what skills matter most for patch 1.1.4
I unlock many parts and use orders to improve even further AND make money. I gather 1 million without even trying, just as a side-effect. A few days ago I started a new game without any smithing. The difference is obvious. I make a lot of money from the loot and prisoners, and trading, but my finantial situation is nowhere near to a smithing
